2008-2009 Tryouts

Tryouts for the 2008-2009 VCU Rams Hockey Team will be held at SkateNation Plus on September 6th at 5:00pm and 7th at 945pm. Players are asked to show up to the rink an hour before the scheduled ice times to deal with paperwork and to make sure all equipment issues are resolved prior to getting on the ice. The cost of tryouts will be $5 for returning players and $10 for new players. Anyone with any questions is to email President Michael Ellison at ellisonmr@vcu.edu

All returning and new players interested in trying out for the 2008-2009 season must meet at the VCU Commons at 10:00PM on Wednesday August 27th. Players that are not sure whether they want to tryout are still encouraged to attend because there will be pertinent information discussed that may help you make your decision. Any player unable to attend the meeting, but still wishes to tryout, must e-mail team President Michael Ellison at ellisonmr@vcu.edu. Lastly, there will be after meeting refreshments for those that want to partake.
2008-2009 Season is Just Around the Corner!

VCU Hockey has finally finalized their 2008-2009 schedule. With the merger of the CCHC and the BRHC, the Rams will be returning to the BRHC to faceoff against familiar foes. This time around the Rams will compete in the Atlantic Conference that will include George Mason, Lynchburg College, Radford,VMI, Washington Lee, and William & Mary.
The VCU Hockey club would also like to announce that they will be hosting a tournament along with University of Richmond called "The Battle of Virginia". The tournament will be held Halloween weekend and will include two of the biggest rivalry Games in the state...

VCU Ice Hockey has had a very busy off-season to date, and we would like to keep all our fans posted on the going-ons. First off, we'd like to announce that we've hired a new coach, Zecevic "Zeka" Tihomir. Zeka is the former starting goalie of the Yugoslavia national team and has also had an impressive European professional career. The club feels that Zeka is exactly what they need to take their game to the next level, and are confident that they will make their mark in the Southern Region of the ACHA this year. Season wrap up

The Rams' season ended Friday night with a 5-4 loss to ODU in the playoffs. It was an up and down season for the injury-plagued club as the team went 6-8 in league play and 6-11 overall. Although the team struggled on the ice at times the Rams showed what this team is capable of with great games against division opponents ODU, UR and CNU down the stretch. By refusing to give up even when things looked bleak, this group of players showed not only their character and resolve, but also their commitment to one another as a team.
