Former ECHL Star Signs on to Coach Rams

The Rams are glad to announce that Former ECHL Star Kevin St. Jacques has signed on to coach the squad for the 2009-2010 season. St. Jacques was drafted in the 6th round, 112nd overall in the 1991 entry draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. After finishing up his Major Junior career where he put up over 500pts in just under 300 games with the Spokane Chiefs and Lethbridge Hurricanes of the WHL, he turned pro in 1992 with the Indianapolis Ice of the IHL. VCU WINS BRHC CHAMPIONSHIP!! 2-1 over Citadel

This weekend the Rams were able to top off their organization's most successful season in years, with the BRHC League Championship. Stellar goaltending by Colin Davis led the way as the Rams beat VMI 4-2 in the Atlantic Conference Finals and then held on to beat The Citadel 2-1 the next morning in the league championship. In addition to winning the playoff championship trophy, the team was awarded the regular season championship trophy after finishing the season 7-1 in BRHC league play. Rams Take out #13 VMI

The Rams knew that their performance this weekend would be pivotal for not only their semester, but for their season as a whole. Friday they endured the two hour drive to Lynchburg, VA to take on the always physical VMI Keydets. Coming into the the came, VMI was ranked #13 in the South and were atop the Atlantic Division with six points (3-1). They quickly proved they were no joke when they scored 13 seconds in on new VCU goalie Colin Davis. The Keydets would eventually knock another one in before ending the first period up 2-0. 2008-2009 Tryouts

Tryouts for the 2008-2009 VCU Rams Hockey Team will be held at SkateNation Plus on September 6th at 5:00pm and 7th at 945pm. Players are asked to show up to the rink an hour before the scheduled ice times to deal with paperwork and to make sure all equipment issues are resolved prior to getting on the ice. The cost of tryouts will be $5 for returning players and $10 for new players. Anyone with any questions is to email President Michael Ellison at ellisonmr@vcu.edu
